Congrats on the launch of Connecting Africa. I've already bookmarked this site and look forward to learning more, especially about local companies that are thriving around different countries in Africa.

Africa on the cusp of big changes

Exciting times for Africa given the shift from a voice-centric market to one in which data will be all-important. It is going to be fascinating to see how Africa's operators cope with that transition and whether they'll be able to learn from the experiences of service providers in the West. It'll also be interesting to see how the love/hate relationship with OTT players plays out. I recall hearing a telco executive ruminate on whether Facebook was "beauty or the beast" at MWC last year.

Congrats on this exciting new community! I am looking forward to learning more about the market in Africa. (And, I would gladly volunteer to go to AfricaCom -- very cool). I am curious to hear more about how they innovating around mobile banking and other mobile-first applications, since the drivers, use cases and competition is so different than in the US. -- Sarah T

Heading to Cape Town!

Am genuinely excited to be heading to Cape Town for AfricaCom and get into the thick of the action to find out first hand, from the folks building and running the digital economy, what the greatest opportunities and challenges are.

I sense a massive opportunity for cooperation between local and international players to accelerate developments in ALL markets in Africa -- it was encouraging to hear about how Somalia is being transformed as a result of its communications network investments -- see this video interview
