Agreed. A notable characteristic of African markets isn't as much that they're predominantly wireless - though that's notable in its own right, of course. It's that they are highly flexible, multi-technology, "whatever works" constructs. Africa will see a patchwork of access technologies to make broadband work. What's interesting here is that fibre access will probably be the most prominent wireline broadband option - one wouldn't necessarily have bet on that only a couple of years ago...

The fiber is going to come in handy....
Yes, Africa is a mobile/cellular continent.... but it won't develop beyond standard 4G without fiber deployments and 5G won't happen without fiber going out close to customers wherever possible. Being first to lay and own the fiber in urban areas is a smart long-term whole investment, in my view.
