Interview: Huawei Cloud SA's Pragasen Kundon talks key trends in cloud

Huawei Cloud South Africa's Pragasen Kundon spoke to Connecting Africa Associate Editor Matshepo Sehloho on the key trends in cloud at the Nextv Series Africa.

Kundon highlighted the major cloud trends he has seen, especially in the media industry.

"The first trend we see is ultra-high definition (UHD) content, which is available, but in the media industry, high cost and low efficiency. Huawei Cloud can help with that as we have data centers in South Africa," he said.

The second trend is about platform cloudification.

"Traditional broadcasters want to go to cloud, but they don't have the hybrid model, but we can provide them with that," he explained.

A third trend is artificial intelligence (AI) and big data platforms, and how companies are performing in the industry just by having the right AI and big data platforms, he continued.

He added that the fourth trend is artificially generated content, including professionally generated content and user-generated content.

"Now we are in the AI-generated content, we are now using everything we have learned from professional users, and that is at a click of a button," he concluded.
