Lorna Hardie, senior director for sub-Saharan Africa at VMware, sat down with Connecting Africa to discuss emerging hybrid work trends and their impact on women in the workplace.

"I think hybrid working arguably has provided women a chance to better balance their lives, in terms of work-life balance," she said.

In the video interview she discussed the challenges that women face in working environments and how tech can help alleviate those issues.

"Hybrid work environments have encouraged more women to put their names in the hat and apply for new roles, and roles not necessarily just based in South Africa but across the globe. VMware as a whole has seen an upsurge in female applicants coming through across the globe. But at the end of the day, I'm not saying it’s the answer to everything but there definitely have been positives for women in the workplace," she added.

She also shared some personal stories of her experience as a woman in the tech industry and spoke about VMware's strategy for growth in Africa and the role that female leadership plays in that growth strategy.
