WebNMS Teams Up to Bring IoT-Enabled Solutions to East Africa

Article Image
Enterprise IoT specialist WebNMS has forged a partnership with Energy Monitoring Ltd. (EML) to bring energy and industrial solutions that incorporate Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to businesses in East Africa.

The companies believe that, together, they can provide IoT capabilities backed by systems integration services that can help make industrial operations more efficient in terms of asset utilization and power consumption.

"With this partnership, EML's customers will have access to cost-effective, IoT-enabled solutions to securely monitor their integrated environment, perform predictive maintenance of remote assets and visibly reduce operational cost," noted Darryl Stork, Regional Business Director at WebNMS.

WebNMS , a division of privately-held Zoho Corp., has a long history in developing network management systems and is still active in providing software to support traditional, virtualized and hybrid communications networking environments. (See WebNMS Tackles Telco Silos.)

Now it's main focus is providing various tools that help companies plan and manage multi-vendor IoT installations, as well as developing IoT applications for vertical industries such as transport, telecoms, renewable energy and more. Its expansion plan is centered around partnerships with local systems integrators, such as EML.

Energy Monitoring Ltd. is a five-year old private company based in Kampala, Uganda. It acts as a technology supplier and systems integrator, with a focus on supplying businesses in East Africa with "test and industrial control instrumentation, IoT and energy saving solutions."

IoT, and the role of mobile network operators in enabling a more connected digital society, is one of the keynote topics during Day 1 of East Africa Com, when representatives from Safaricom and the GSMA will discuss the topic 'Examining IoT’s practical applications to stimulating markets and the central role of the MNO': Find out more here.
