Orange Social Venture Prize: Only 5 Weeks Left to Enter

Article Image
Innovative technology projects have only weeks left to enter the 8th Orange Social Venture Prize in Africa and the Middle East, which rewards those projects that "improve the living conditions of people in Africa and the Middle East in fields such as education, healthcare, farming, mobile payments or sustainable development."

The deadline for entries is 31 May: Details can be found at the Orange Social Venture Prize website.

For any project, one of the three prizes on offer is certainly worth winning. Entries are judged at a national level, with three progressing from each country to be assessed by an international jury. The three eventual winners will receive not only the accolade of the prize, which is awarded by Orange, but also a cash injection of €25,000, €15,000 and €10,000 respectively, as well as six months of personalised support from startup creation and financing professionals.

The Orange Social Venture Prize, which was first announced in March, is open to all students, employees and entrepreneurs over the age of 21 whose initiative is under three years old and serves Botswana, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Tunisia, Jordan, Liberia or Burkina-Faso. (See Applications Now Open for the 8th Orange Social Venture Prize in Africa and the Middle East.)

The 2018 Orange Social Venture Prize winners will be announced at the AfricaCom Awards, which take place in Cape Town this November. Find out more about the AfricaCom Awards here.
