Macroeconomic factors such as the variation in oil prices, the depreciation of local currencies, a paucity of spectrum and a range of practical challenges related to access to mobile sites are some of the challenges facing mobile operators in Africa and the Middle East but there are plenty of positives too, according to Ovum's Matthew Reed.
Reed, who is practice leader for Middle East and Africa at Ovum, chatted with Scott Bicheno from Telecoms.com during Huawei's recent pre-MWC briefings in London. Here's what he had to say:
